Knights of Salisbury
-Sir Maxwell Heathcoate: A young knight noted for his horsemanship as well as his booming basso voice, Sir Maxwell Heathcoate was knighted and given the manor at Burcombe in 485, just in time to participate in the battle of Mearced Creek. Noted for his delicate sense of justice, in 486 he encountered the wizard Merlin during a routine border patrol, and soon found himself venturing into a patch of Fey woods at Merlin’s insistence. Encountering a hostile fey creature, Sir Maxwell and the other members of his patrol found themselves bearing witness to Merlin receiving the silvery sword Excalibur from a hand arising from the waters of a still lake. In 467 he answered the call of prince Maddoc who was requesting men to guard his raiding fleet along saxon lands. During the course of several skirmishes Sir Maxwell snapped, began calling out “Home Brothers, home is just over those waves”, and fought like a man either possessed or suicidal. Gravely wounded after two additional encounters, he was put ashore at a recuperation camp, where he disappeared. His tracks led into the woodlands surrounding the camp, but no other sign of him was found.
